About

I bring to my consulting practice over 15 years’ experience in applied research, data analysis and program evaluation.After starting my career as a research consultant, I have worked in data and evaluation roles at the Judicial Council of California, OneJustice, and the East Bay Community Law Center.Some projects I have successfully delivered in these roles include:

  • Developing an organizational data & evaluation strategy

  • Facilitating a training series on data & evaluation

  • Automating data reporting using PowerBI dashboards

  • Implementing an automated client survey system

  • Leading a mixed-methods evaluation of a legal aid helpline

I offer consulting services in three areas: strategic advice; data systems and tools; and program evaluation.Across all of these areas, I offer services specifically tailored to legal aid organizations.

Strategic advice
I can help you to clarify your organization’s data & evaluation needs and develop a roadmap for moving forward. Examples include:

  • Developing a data & evaluation plan for your organization

  • Advising on options for specific data & evaluation projects

  • Capacity building, including staff training and advice on hiring

Data systems & tools
I can provide technical assistance to ensure that your organization has the data systems and tools you need to support effective client services, efficient internal operations and external reporting. Examples include:

  • Configuring case management systems

  • Streamlining processes for data reporting to funders

  • Developing data dashboards using PowerBI, Tableau or R/RStudio

Program evaluation
I can help your organization use data & evaluation techniques to plan, assess and improve the services you offer to your community. Examples include:

  • Community needs assessment

  • Business process analysis & service improvement

  • Designing client, staff and partner surveys

  • Independent evaluation of grant/contract funded services

Legal aid organizations
My experience working in the legal aid sector in California gives me a strong understanding of the needs of legal aid organizations. I am familiar with legal aid service models, commonly used technology such as LegalServer, and the requirements of funders such as the State Bar of California and the Legal Services Corporation.
